“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” Official Title of Man of Steel Sequel!!!

It’s official! The title to the much anticipated, Zac Snyder directed, Man of Steel sequel is: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!!! Pretty awesome if you ask me! And way to make it front and center that this movie will be leading up to the Justice League movie(s)!!!

Check out the official logo below, what do you think!? Let us know in the comments!

Dawn of Justice

[Update] – the more I think about it, the more I am not so sure about this title. A couple thoughts –

Not having “Man of Steel” in the title is odd since, after all, this is a sequel to the movie Man of Steel.

  1. This has to be one of the few movies where the title of the sequel has no relation (in its name) to the original movies title. I can’t think of one…
  2. Having “Superman” in the title is odd since, in Man of Steel, they went out of their way to never really say “Superman” that or call him by that name.
  3. Having “Batman” listed first in the title of the movie, which is a sequel to Man of Steel… is rather odd. Shouldn’t they have at least called it “Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice?” And not the other way around?
  4. Saying Batman v Superman in the title is a BIG commitment. I mean, that is a HUGE promise you are making to the audience by saying, “these two characters will fight.” I mean, of course they will, it’s in the damn title! They better! And if it’s just like a little fight in the beginning of the movie like say, Iron man and Thor had in the Avengers, that is going to be BIG disappointment to the audience. By saying” Batman v Superman” in the title, the audience is expecting a movie where that will a main story line. And if it’s not, you better believe that people will be pissed.
  5. A much better title would have been “Man of Steel: Dawn of Justice” for several reasons. One, it obviously seems like more of a sequel since the damn name is the same as the original. Two, having the word “Justice” in there is a huge flag for the majority of your audience (comic book nerds) that this will introduce/setup the Justice League, so then it is expected that we will see Batman. And three, with the MASS MARKETING that will undoubtedly take place for this movie, do you really need to include Batman’s name in the title to let us know he is in the movie!? I am sure we will see 6 trailers, 7 movie clips, 8 TV spots, a couple Burger King commercials and a partridge in a pear tree leading up to this movies premiere. We will be well aware that Batman is in this movie, and probably sick of hearing about it by then.
  6. Also, last and certainly least, Paul and I were discussing this and he brought up a good point (for once in his life). They have the name “Batman” in the title of this movie, however in this new universe, we haven’t yet met a “Batman” it seems as though they are forcing us to care about a character that they haven’t even introduced yet!
  7. I think this title is just an indication of trying way too hard… they are trying so damn hard to mimic the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that they are already committing themselves to this new universe having only one movie under their belt, and are jumping in head first with this title saying “look at us! We can do this too!”

First Trailer for MAN OF STEEL!!!

First off, in case you live under a rock, or you like Justin Bieber, you probably don’t know that Man of Steel is a moniker for Superman. So lets just go ahead and clear that up right away. Got it? Man Of Steel = Superman. OK? Check.

ANYWAYS… The first trailer is up for Man Of Steel, the new re-boot-imagining of the Superman franchise, directed by Zack Snyder, and produced by none other than the main man himself, Christopher Nolan, because… gritty. We saw a teaser trailer a couple weeks ago and I thought it looked freaking awesome. As much of a cliche it is these days, it really did seem like a “real” and “serious” telling of the Superman origin and story. The first trailer below gives us a bit more of a look into that world. And I don’t know why, but it brings down my expectations just slightly.

Maybe it is just because I am still pissed off that I wasted my time with that horrible Spiderman re-boot, but to me I kind of get the feeling (again) of “didn’t I just see this?” But other than that, the way they are presenting the film looks entirely different and I can get on board with that. The special effects look pretty bad ass, however if you listen to the show at all you know that I am not a huge proponent of mass quantities of CGI, so I really hope they don’t over do it (Suckerpunch I am looking at you), but they will. Guaranteed. Also, is it just me, or did the part where  Superman is shirtless and walking through fire look like horribly bad CGI? I’m talking like The Darkest Hour bad… ouch.

Michael Shannon definitely looks the part of a pretty ruthless General Zod, but we don’t really get to see much of him here, so I’ll wait for the second trailer to pass judgement on him. And judgement I will pass!

I do like how you can see the physical representation of Superman’s powers, in the scene where he is getting ready to take off, and slamming into the bank vault causing a huge dent, rather than just see him using his powers to fly really fast or laser-beam-eye a Hot Pocket. However, I think there is definitely room for this movie to take a turn for the worse. If you look at Snyder’s track record, its pretty much a shot in the dark. Not that he has made the worst movies really, but still… for every Dawn of the Dead, you have a Suckerpunch. For every Watchmen you have Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. Then there is 300, which a lot of people kind of thought was over the top, but I thought was pretty unique and bad ass for what it was. So, I am not saying that the new Superman movie is going to have cartoon owls, or giant Blue Man Group dudes walking around with their junk swingin’ in your face either. But hopefully we can get a real character driven Superman movie that uses CGI to enhance the story instead of tell it. By the way, anyone else notice that Clark wasn’t wearing any glasses? Hmm, must have gotten Lasik. Would they need a Kryptonite laser for that? Just curious…

Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy AdamsRussell Crowe, and Michael Shannon and is scheduled to take off (get it?) June 14th 2013. Let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments! Especially the cheesy, “Me Clark, me walk through FIRE!” part.

Superman apparently lives in a barn… a barn that has a Bowflex machine.

Superman is a hobo… a very, very buff hobo. New pictures from all over the internets, show us that Clark Kent is apparently writing his news articles for the Daily Planet out of a barn… a barn that is filled with weight lifting equipment and small animals that eat pants. The barns motto? No shirt, no shoes, no problem! Listen to us ponder why Superman looks like a vagabond in the 10/16/11 show.

First Man of Steel Lois Lane Set Pics

Comingsoon.net reports, courtesy of The Daily Mail, that Lois Lane is Mary Jane from Spiderman.  Well not really, but that is the first thing I thought of when I saw these pictures of Amy Adams as Lois Lane on the film set for Man of Steel.  In case anyone was curious, Lois Lane will indeed read the newspaper, drink coffee, and walk in this new Superman movie.
